Dr. House Caricature

Another gift drawing. Since I lack any kind of solid human style, I attempted a caricature here. Unfortunately, he looked a bit better before I did the detailing.

MLP: FiM – Missing Receipt?!

This is my submission for the Artist Training Grounds’s week 98 theme: draw a pony in danger. What? Dashie is totally in danger… of losing out on her pre-order for the latest Daring Do book. Poor girl. 😦

Side note: detailing furniture made of clouds is weird.

Wow, I just realized that I was so tired when I did this, I made a critical mistake. If anyone spots it, I blame Discord. 😛

((This is how much I blame Discord: ))

“Noooo! It… it was here yesterday!” Rainbow Dash tore the other drawers open, dumping the contents onto the floor before pitching them over her shoulder.

Not here, either! How could this happen? She let her head hit the top of the cabinet with a soft ‘wump’. As she stared at the floor, something shiny caught her eye. A bit, along with several of its sisters lay scattered throughout Dash’s mess. I got it! I’ll just order it again!

She tried to reach a wing down to scoop up those precious bits, but it was numb and refused. Rainbow grumbled, peering behind her as she wondered how her wings could fall asleep at a crucial time like this. “Gaaaaaaah!”

She spun around, lifting her legs and tilting her torso. They’re gone! But how?! They’re attached to me! This has to be a dream!

Dash was suddenly aware of someone laughing. Someone awfully familiar. She whirled to glare at the source. “Discord!”

He was rolling on the floor, clutching at his stomach in mock hysterics. “Oh, Rainbow Dash, you are truly entertaining when you are in a tizzy!”

“You did this!”

“Don’t be so modest! I only did half of it! The rest was your own carelessness. But since I’m such a nice guy now, I’ll help you out.”

Rainbow Dash intensified her glare. “You’re just going to mess with me.”

Discord chuckled. “Nah, kicking you while you’re down is no fun!”

“Then explain the wings!”

“Oh, well, it’s also no fun if you’re just going to run out and buy a new receipt. So here’s the deal: somewhere in your house, you have unwittingly hidden your precious wittle Daring Do receipt. Find that and you also find your wings. Oh, and no leaving the playing zone. It may not… end well for you.”

Rainbow stomped. “I don’t have time for your games!”

“But of course you do! Until you can fly again, you’ve got all the time in the world. Tata, I’ll be watching.” Discord snapped his fingers and vanished.

MLP: FiM – Rolling With Winter

This is my submission for the Artist Training Grounds’s week 97 theme: draw a pony rolling. Well, winter has been refusing to leave up here (it snowed on May 1!), which happened to remind me of a Twi WWU concept I wanted to try redoing. So we rolled with it.

This was probably about as ambitious for me now (seriously, that pose… so many retakes) as when I first attempted it. Comparing the two, I’m really happy with how far I’ve come in the anatomy department (yay, no more noodle forelegs), as well as general scaling (I guess her outfit accidentally went through the warm water cycle in that old one >.>). Also, hurray, background this time (kind of)!

MLP: FiM – Pinkie Forgets How to Rock

Was that 47.61 degrees north or east?

This is my submission for the Artist Training Grounds’s week 96 theme: draw a pony rocking. For some reason, Pinkie has to give her family a lending hoof on the farm again. Trouble is, with all her years of partying, she seems to have forgotten a few things. Rock farming is a tough science!

MLP: FiM – Happy Dusky

Done on a whim because I don’t give her enough love.

MLP: FiM – Weed Whacker

Applejack is a hardcore pony and when she gardens, she does it hardcore.

This is my submission for the Artist Training Grounds’s week 95 theme: draw a pony gardening.

I’ve decided to roll with the softer lines for a bit longer. This made the yellow a bit harder to work with (and it’s already the one I least like working with), although I’m happy with how it turned out in the end.

MLP: FiM – Double Dusky

So I’ve been playing a lot of Fire Emblem Awakening lately and this happened. The more detailed explanation is that before the game was released in North America, some people were importing copies and loosely translating some parts of the game. I noticed one of the classes had been translated as “Dark Pegasus” (officially translated to Dark Flier in the end). So when I finally got my hands on a copy, I couldn’t resist the joke and generated a My Unit named Dusky.

It took some doing, but I finally got to a point where I could class change her to Dark Flier. I ended up loving the design and the idea behind the class (even if its mediocre durability makes it a poor choice beyond mid-game). So I figured I’d loop the joke back around on itself and that’s how this drawing came to be.

MLP: FiM – Twilight Washing Up

This is my submission for the Artist Training Grounds’s week 94 theme: draw a pony washing up. What strange adventure has befallen Twilight?

I tried something a little different style-wise this time. I tried to minimize the amount of hard lines I used to define body parts and just kind of blend everything in general. I think the end result is it gives everything a little more volume. Also: argh, water.

MLP: FiM – Twitail

And now for something a little different. Been working on this for a few weeks now with the design getting more intricate than I originally intended. It ended up being too heavy to keep the shape I originally set out for, but it still keeps a bit of the curve and has some really nice bounce and swish when I move.

The apparatus is made of buckram (which is better hidden when worn by a person, but all I had was a chair for taking the photos), which is attached to a pretty run-of-the-mill hiking belt. The tail itself is made of yarn, carefully secured in key places so as to keep the shape even if I move around a lot, but such that the yarn will react to movement.

In the end, this is only step one of three of a fuller ensemble. Stay tuned.
