MLP: FiM – Letting Her Hair Down

So this was supposed to be a quick drawing, but because I lost my ability to draw for like an hour, this ran me 3 hours using the 2H-HB-2B trio.

Anyway, I was in a bit of a design mood and I feel like I don’t really give Applejack enough drawings, so I rolled both into one. I always imagined her tail would be a little uneven if she were to let it down and I felt like giving her a different hairstyle, so that’s what happened.

For the outfit, I tried to keep true to her character, but avoid the rodeo design, since her Gala dress already did that. Instead I went with something of a sundress theme. Replaced her stetson with a sun hat (although the brim ended up being a bit shorter than I originally envisioned). Used the saddle as a starting piece and went from there. I originally thought of having a necklace or choker of some kind, but went with a more simple cloth collar tied with a bow (and attached to the saddle). For the skirt I went with a hybridization of a saddle blanket and a shorted version of the actual skirt of a sundress (although the folds ended up being quite a bit larger than what I saw online, it looked nice enough that I decided to keep it). Put some more bows on because the saddle blanket part was looking just a little too plain (a little frou-frou never hurt anyone, right?).
