MLP: FiM – C+C Tiberian Dawn Twilight

This is my second submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 35 theme: draw a pony in an imitation of another work. Basically the second I remembered what the box art looked like for the original C&C, I knew I wanted to spoof it. The drawing doesn’t include the logos because I felt they just get in the way. Ended up ditching the background too because the most interesting thing I wanted to experiment with Twi as the replacement for the infantryman. Namely because of the greyscale style on everything except for the goggle lens. It was very interesting to work with.

Overall, I think this turned out really well. The whole thing ran me about 5 hours with the 2H-HB-2B trio and Prismacolors combined. Although what I’m especially pleased is that this drawing was basically done with my drawing hand bandaged and there’s no noticeable drop in quality.

MLP: FiM – CO Sparkle

This is my first submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 35 theme: draw a pony while imitating an existing work. The top screen of this screenshot is what I was aiming to do my best replica of. Of course, given I’m not much of a digital artist and I was imitating a video game screen, my graphite couldn’t produce anything all that close to exact. This idea basically came to me as a combination of me playing Advance Wars: Days of Ruin again and thinking back to the EqD mock war event.

The Advance Wars art style, while anime inspired, is on the more realistically proportioned end of the scale, so I did my best to modify Twi to fit that. I lengthened her snout (although probably not enough) and shrunk her eyes down, shaping them in a more equine way (although still keeping anime style irises and pupils). I also repositioned her ear a bit and lengthened her body. The modification I feel iffiest about is I tried to adapt some of a real pony’s musculature structure into the drawing. It… looks a little strange on a book worm like Twi (and the scanner actually really brought out the chest muscles >.>).

MLP: FiM – You’re Pinkie’s New Friend

This is my third submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 34 theme: draw an infatuated pony. Today’s episode showed that Pinkie is quite infatuated with making new friends, so I took that and ran with it.

Some of the blending didn’t quite turn out as well as I wanted, but that was mostly with the parts with strange angles, which are luckily fairly scarce. On the plus side, my scanner was quite cooperative this time, so the colours are fairly close.

Ran me about 5.5 hours using Prismacolors.

MLP: FiM – Self-Infatuation

This is my second submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 34 theme: draw an infatuated pony.

So funny story behind this one. I asked the owlbot for two main six ponies. And it rolled double Rainbow Dash. I was about to reroll when this idea hit me. Well, not quite this idea, but almost. Dashie was pretty in love with herself in Mysterious Mare Do-Well, so I decided to go with that. Problem being I already did something similar to what I had in my head for Ask Equestria. So after a bit of muddling around, this is what I ended up with and I think it captures the point quite nicely. I have no idea what her mouth writing would look like, so I kind of just winged it with slightly messy hand script.

This took my about 2 hours (after an hour of muddling around >.>) with the 2H-HB-2B trio.

MLP: FiM – Mutual Infatuation

Oh, Daring, you get all the mares, don’t you?

This is my first submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 34 theme: draw an infatuated pony. Well, have two. This was originally going to be a comic, then I realized all I’d be doing would be adding borderlines to what could be a single picture.

Got the odd thing going wrong here, but the table perspective turned out to be not quite what I thought it was when I laid it out, so that annoys me a bit.

Anyway, this took roughly 5 hours with the 2H-HB-2B trio.
