MLP: FiM – Watching
Wait, Rarity, they’re not… well, okay, NOW they’re staring at you.
This is my third submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 33 theme: draw a pony in an awkward misunderstanding.
I was going to do a celebration for 100 Deviantart watchers and came up with this idea to use for part of the theme. Problem was I was one short. So it’s about celebrating 99 watchers (these numbers are all arbitrary anyway)! Rarity seems to have noticed my cheap little celebratory sign and thinks 99 people are watching her after she just came out of the shower. Even though ponies don’t wear clothes. *pony shrug*
Really, though, thank you all! It’s always uplifting to have people to share my work with! ^_^
MLP: FiM – 6″ Twilight Sparkle Plushie
Ugh, I never want to work with a plushie this small again. At least not with my current supplies. Twilight is entirely hand sewn.
This is my first pony plush attempt, with the design based off of Medliadhor’s pattern ([link]). I made a lot of mistakes, most of which is mostly corrected or covered up by the end and I know not to do next time.
The hardest part for me was detailing the eyes and cutie mark. At this size it just plain sucks and I can see why everyone loves embroidery so much. I chose to do my eyes entirely through felt and sewn together. This made them bulky and the tiny surface area made sewing difficult. But I made it through with the detail more or less intact. The cutie mark wasn’t so lucky. The main starburst was easy enough, especially after the eyes. I just had to be really careful how I cut. it’s the smaller starbursts that got me. You may notice they’re not there. That would be because I couldn’t possibly make the smaller starbursts look like actual starbursts. I tried a couple alternatives like the knots I used for the nostrils or circular pieces of felt, but in the end they just looked awful, so I cut them out.
The longest part was a tie between sewing the body and working on the hair. Being the dumb, inexperience seamster I am, I only single stitched the body. Cue terribly catastrophe when I tried to stuff her (despite using a thread that advertised itself as extra strong). Going back and double or triple stitching (depending on the part) to reinforce fixed the issue, but added a ton of extra time. Then the way I did the hair just took a while because I had several layers of felt divided into several pieces that just required a lot of straight up sewing that wasn’t hard, but took a really long time.
Overall, I guess I’m fairly happy with her for a first attempt, but she didn’t turn out nearly as good as I envisioned in my design. I’ll probably attempt her again (or possibly another pony, not sure…) some time in the future, but as at least a 12″ plushie.

This is my second submission to the Artist Training Grounds’ week 33 theme: draw a pony involved in an awkward misunderstanding.
Seems someone requested Apple sauce and Applejack took it quite literally. Probably for the best since she can kick really hard and might not have appreciated the true meaning.
This took me roughly 4 hours with the 2H-HB-2B trio.

MLP: FiM – Twi and Pinkie’s Miscommunication
This is my first submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 33 theme: draw a pony involved in awkward misunderstanding. Shippy ideas are kind of a rare thing for me and this one was just too cute to pass up. So have Pinkie being on a different page than Twi.
This is probably the most frustrated I’ve been with my scanner in a while. It did some really strange stuff with the way it picked up the layers on both ponies’ foreground hind legs and there’s no way tone correction could compensate. Otherwise, I think it more or less turned out pretty good.
This ran me about 5 hours with the Prismacolors.

MLP: FiM – Trixie Has You Right Where She Wants You
Wherever that is, anyway.
This is my third submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 32 theme: draw a blue pony. Trixie happened to be lucky enough to get drawn by being blue. I had originally thought of drawing one of Dashie’s expressions in the Read It and Weep, but I already did sad Dashie this week, so didn’t really feel like it.
Anyway, Trixie is really blue. Like, I used almost nothing but 4 types of blues for this. Trying to keep straight which tone went where was definitely interesting. XD
Overall, this took me about 4.5 hours with my Prismacolors.
