MLP: FiM – Power Overwhelming (Fiction)

Note: I’ve decided to keep the tags and description that the WTG requires for entries as it should help people get an idea of whether they want to read a story or not.

This is my submission for the Writer Training Grounds’ week 11 theme: write about a pony taking on more than they can handle. But she will soon learn there are prerequisites to the lesson she seeks.

This is another unedited piece, but unlike the last few, it’s complete. Or at least I don’t plan to come back to it. The ending is probably ambiguous enough to go on, but I don’t really have any idea what I’d do with it.

MLP: FiM – TwilIke Sparkle Fights For Her Friends(hip)

Twilight fights for her friends(hip)!

Being a big fan of Fire Emblem, when I heard the above during S2E2, I just knew I had to do this. Four hours later and this is the result. For anyone who hasn’t played Smash Bros. Brawl, Ike says “I fight for my friends” as a victory quote.

This pose is surprisingly hard to get looking right. But it was totally worth fighting with. I gave Twilight Ike’s bandana, cape and shoulder guard (although it looks more metallic than leathery…), as well as Ragnell. Despite Twi standing still, the mysterious dramatic wind made this feel really dynamic and a blast to shade. I think this is the hardest I’ve ever worked my 2B. Like with my last Twi drawing, minor mistakes, but overall I’m quite happy with it.

MLP: FiM – Pinkie Pie Ninjaing You

This is my first submission to the Artist Training Grounds’ week 14 theme: Pirates vs Ninja.

I really couldn’t resist doing a fourth wall breaking Pinkie here, so I did a quick 30 minute sketch. The pose actually came faster to me than expected, otherwise it might have been another 40 minuter.

MLP: FiM – Action Twilight

Started as pose practice and I thought it turned out so well that I needed to shade it. About 3.5 hours went into this one. S2E2 affected me quite a bit and it almost made me want to draw sad Twi, but then that would just add more sad Twi. And I’ve been doing a lot of happy Twi lately, so for a change of pace (and also because badass Twi is awesome), I went with action Twi.

There’s some minor mess ups here and there, but I think this is one of those rare drawings I can say I’m really satisfied with. Done with the usual 2H-HB-2B trio.

MLP: FiM – Confused Pinkamena

This is my third submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 13 theme: draw a confused pony. Pinkie is confused that you could ever think she was a serial killer. Seriously, what a terrible thought to have about such a sweet pony. 😛

Another 40 minute pose and shading experiment.

MLP: FiM – Affectionate Twilight Sketch

More pose and super fast shading technique practice. And i wanted to draw Twi looking all affectionate. So I did. This was done in something between 30 and 40 minutes, although I’m not sure on the exact time because I was frequently distracted while drawing it, hehe. Definitely messed up the bangs and mane and make them look cardboardy, though.

MLP: FiM – Fluttershy Gliding Sketch

Relatively quick Fluttershy pose practice sketch (still took 40 minutes). Took longer than usual because I was paying careful attention to the wings. Despite that, I might have placed them slightly wrong. I think I wasn’t paying attention the proportions, because I think the left hind leg is a little short. The head also looked too small, but I double checked it’s about the right size. Then I realized it looked small because I’m used to her mane adding something like 70% more volume to her head. XD

Just realized I forgot her lower set of lashes. D’oh.

MLP: FiM – Evil’s Twilight 3: Revelations

Well, this took longer than I would have liked (I’m a little late posting this here, it’s been on my DA since Sat) to finally get to a point that I liked. Especially since I had something like 2/3 of the details and dialogue outlined when I posted chapter 2.

No warning this time because the action doesn’t get all that brutal. I didn’t tone it down on purpose or anything, that’s just how the text flowed best.

MLP: FiM – Two Worlds (Fiction)

This is my submission for the Writer’s Training Grounds’ week 10 theme: write about a pony alone for a day. By the very strictest definition, I think this wouldn’t fit the theme, but the muse goes where the muse will.

Anyway, I had the core idea of the conflict in mind ever since the WATG collective banned season 2 spoilers for the weekend. I started writing it down, then Pinkie Pie got involved and things spiralled out of control. I have a suspicion that the result will either be great or fall totally flat for each different person. So, uh, have some unedited randomness.

This would again be a snippet, although I think the very end of this snippet would be a scene cut in a complete story.

MLP: FiM – Confused Pinkie Pie

This is my second submission for the Artist Training Grounds’ week 13 theme: draw a confused pony.

This is one of my favourite Pinkie expressions (from Party of One) where Spike manages to baffle her. Except tilted, because I drew a bit too much of the right side of her face. I also managed to lose a bit of the confusion and I’m a little annoyed with how uneven her left eye looks. Especially since I kind of let myself go and spent close to 4.5 hours being picky about this. Oh, well, still turned out reasonably well despite.
