Well, because I’m insane, I have also joined the Writer’s Training Group (which was inspired to form by the Artist Training Group) when my plate is already kind of full.
Anyway, I joined about 8 hours before the first weekly theme (write about a pony’s trip to Canterlot for a day) was set to end. So the logical thing, of course, is to attempt to throw something together anyway, right? 😛 Anyway, it’s been a long time since I’ve written poetry and this is kind of random train of thought, but here’s a poem about my pony.
A Day in Canterlot
As I walk upon the path
Powdered earth gives way to hooves
At mind’s whimsy eyes wander
To sun bathed landscape
A gentle breeze
Caressing mane and feathers
A pleasant scent in its wake
Is Canterlot’s warm welcome
A countenance quite severe is glimpsed
As a lavender pony gallops past
Pink and purple streaks dancing
Upon her blueish mane and tail
With great purpose she did stride
Soon a bobbing massof colour
And next a distant speck
Before finally only horizon remained
What could cause her such urgency
I do not know
Such a shame to be occupied so
On a day like this
A whimsical beat and then another
Then several more
Until I found the blue and white
Of the realm above
From downy perch
The golden domes
And ivory spires
Gleamed with greater majesty
I laid entranced
While morning’s journey
And sun’s warmth
Took their toll
But one blink
And light was gone
A twilit hue in its place
Giving cityscape a different grace
An insistent rumbling
Took center stage
A reminder of why
I had come in the first place
BEST DAY EVER!
I love the last two lines “A reminder of why I had come in the first place”. Nice descriptive poem and the rhythm is quite bouncy like Pinkie Pie.
