This is a repost of some earlier works to get them off the menu and into categories since pages don’t allow categories.
These are both kind of dress up Twilight Sparkle type works, so I decided to group them.

I decided to group all these requests for this post both to minimize spamming the front page and for the fact that all of these are ponified versions of Eventua’s four lords:
Blah, this should have been up last night, but about 15 minutes before I finished the picture my Internet died and stayed dead for more than 3 hours after.
Dramatization disclaimer: events might not have occurred this way.
This is my second submission for the ATG week 5 theme: draw a pony shocked. When Nullh’s and Lunar’s tyrant and evil overlord role play + shocked pony theme = I simply couldn’t resist making this joke. I mostly tried to put this together as a surprise, so there were some liberties taken with representations for the admins.
Anyway, this is quite possibly the longest I’ve worked on a piece of art. I spent about 3 hours sketching up each of the ponies and followed that up by spending 6 hours colouring, then another roughly 45 mins on my extremely simplistic background. For anyone who didn’t get to follow the story of the role play, Lunar pulled a coup to usurp control of ATG from Nullh and this is my gag take on the event. One tyrant is clobbering another while the admins are perhaps questioning their decision to follow Lunar.
Background left to right, we have:
Fetchbeer – stallion Zecora. I’d never drawn Zecora before this, which further complicated things. Only Lunar took longer to do.
Kitssuneymg – his ponysona, although after seeing Atlur’s rendition of the final battle, I’m not sure I got this right. The hair took a while.
Atlur – ponified the knight he uses as a Deviant ID. Had to fumble around a bit to get a decent armour design.
LifeSequenceBreaker – stuck with a muffin. I didn’t have a whole lot else to go on, but I also got it into my head early on that having a muffin in the group shot would be funny. Not so sure about that now.
Argembarger – palette swapped Fluttershy. I really needed to do something to differentiate him here, since Lunar basically got dibs on Flutterage. I didn’t think of the palette swap to the colours used by his avatar until I was midway through colouring. My original plan was just to keep his Fluttershy female (and you’ll probably notice I stuck with that decision anyway) to differentiate from stallion Flutterage.
Amehdaus – another ponified Deviant ID. The glasses took a bit of work to make look good and not like a blob of smushed colour.
Foreground left to right:
Nullh – going off of his ponysona as depicted in the scraps art he posted. Yay, more working in odd looking facial hair on ponies. There’s also a programming joke in here.
LunarApologist – stallion Flutterage. Tried to get a ponysona out of him, but there were issues. Anyway, this was too much fun to draw. I love doing facial expressions and it was a bit of a treat to draw that really unhinged look on Lunar. I also got to toy around with Lunar empiring up the Palpatine robe, which I think turned out nicely.
The background is simpler than I intended, but I decided it’s probably for the best since I want the focus to stay on the action (aside from the fact that I’m not sure I could have pulled off a grandiose background anyway).
Edit: I’ve been informed that Kits’ ponysona is a pegasus mare, so I’ve shortened the snout line and added eyelashes and wings.
No, I didn’t slack off or fail to complete what I set out to do. Quite the opposite, actually. What I’m currently working on required me to use two pages of my sketchbook to lay out all my characters. What I’m doing is waiting until I have it coloured, because showing it off now would ruin the surprise and I want to try to have it looking its best when I do present it.
Until then, let me direct you back to Start of Nightmare Part 09. I fixed up some goofs that I made last night. See if you can spot the difference.
Additionally, my story for the Writer’s Training Group’s second week is still hot off the press from last night.
This is my first submission for the DA Artist Training Group’s week 5 theme: draw a pony shocked.
This is probably one of the fastest high panel count pages I’ve done so far. And with minimal references, since I just hage to look back on some of my old pages to remember the guard and opposing mage unicorn designs. Once again there’s pretty much no dialogue and a lot of action. I’m particularly proud with how the last panel turned out, especially the expressions.
Edit: Applejack now has 4 legs, scarred Twilight has her third scar and Dashie has her wings now (the main thing I somehow overlooked that bugged me… I must have been really tired and addled).
This is my submission for the WTG’s week 2 theme: write about a pony dreaming and his/her reaction to it upon waking up.
Well this was certainly interesting to write. Late last week I semi-dozed off for a moment and either dreamed or day dreamed up a good 3/4 of the first scene, so I decided to roll with it.
I’ve been up and down the text at least five times, changing at least a couple lines every time and I’m still pretty nervous that I messed something up. I’ve hardly written any prose in the last few weeks and that’s still more prose than I’ve written in the last three years or so.
*Author’s Note: For lack of a better name, Kuroi is what I’ve started using for my OC pony.*
I just finished colouring the drawing of Rarity from yesterday, which can now be found alongside the original sketch in the
original post.
First off, as can probably be guessed from the title, this isn’t my work. This amazing piece of art was sent to me by my good friend, Alana. And of course, such beautiful art not meant to be tucked away and hidden, but shown. So I present my favourite pony, Twilight Sparkle, looking ever so pretty in her Grand Galloping Gala dress.
And a big thanks out to Alana for going above and beyond just to cheer me up.
Well, I wanted to do the whole thing tonight, but between things coming up and Rarity’s mane and tail still being a total pain to draw, I only finished the sketch. It will be coloured sometime soon since I want to submit the colour version to the ATG week 5 bonus theme: draw a pony in socks. And Rarity is totally in socks in this drawing… a pile of ’em.
Getting the expression right was a bit tough, since I wanted her to look frusterated, but not particularly mad, which was surprisingly easy to end up crossing into. Aside from that, thepose will a little more effort than usual, but nothing really compared to the hair.
Edit: Rarity is now coloured! The trace work is starting to come pretty easily to me now. There wasn’t anything that really gave me much trouble. I had to adjust some of the socks to work with Rarity, since the lines for each respective part that I chose to go with from the sketch didn’t quite match up. I did also try to start drawing a true hand drawn background and… well, it looked really awful, so I trashed it and decided to leave that exercise for another night when I have time to mess around.
Had to think about this one a bit since I was looking for a pose other than the standard profiling or Applebucking (not that there’s anything wrong with those, I just didn’t feel like doing them). I almost decided to do her frilly frou frou outfit from Look Before You Sleep, but I wanted to do a drawing with her hat, so I ended up coming up with the lasso idea.
The start of this was probably one of my worst sketches in a while (luckily no one needs to see it). I need to do a fair bit of adjustment as I was doing the trace work and colouring. The lasso was a great big pain to get right, both in sketching and colouring, but it was totally worth it.
